This race was the first held on
the Pontiac51 Raceway. The Track is 6,96m long (418m scale). Exact timing
is ensured through a SPTS. 14 competitors were found and after exessive
training on friday and saturday, on sunday 6 p.m. the qualify started.
Before technial intructions were given by me. Our Statsgirl Martina was
prepared to keep times and points on a flipchart. The order was on random,
everyone had to drive 12 consecutive laps. Choice of lane and car was free.
Laps driven first were placed first. The standings after the qualify looked
|6.||Klaus Öhler||Jean Louis||4.1172||A|
|13.||Christian Ott||El Kailath||4.2891||B|
And away we go with round 1. The
classes A and B competed against each other (1st A against 1st B and so
on), B class driver had the coice of lane, A class driver of car. 10 races
a 3 laps were driven, controllers were changed after 5 races. The scoring
for each race was: 10 pts for 1st, 6 pts for 2nd, 0 pts for DNF. No marshalling
was allowed (means spin and you are out of the race). Ties in points are
driven out with a tiebreaker (3-lap race). The standings after round 1
looked like this:
After round 1 the cars required
cleaning and so we had a short break. Then the heat was back on with round
2. Now the 13th competed against the 14th (after the standings from round
1). This continued up the field. The same rules applied as for round 1.
The standings after round 2 looked like this:
So the final standings after the
points from r1 and r2 together looked like this:
So as you can see i won the "Grand Prix Champion Trophy". Cray got the "Ayrton Senna Pole Position Trophy", El Kailath the "Jeff Gordon Runner Up Award" and Jean Louis the "Eddie Irvine Steadiness Award". The Winners Photo showed me, Jean Louis and Cray. Then, just like the big boys, a shower of champagne finished the 5-hour event.
